Sewage Facilities

There are three sewage treatment facilities in San Francisco. They are the North Point Wet Water Facility, the Oceanside Treatment Plant, and the Southeast Treatment Plant. The North point facility is only active during wet weather. The Oceanside treatment plan handles 20% of the city's flow and the southeast treatment plant handles 80% of the city's flow.

  1. Caitlin,

I found this same illustration. I thought it was weird that the sewage plant located in the north was only operable during rainy days.

  2. Hi Caitlin,

It's crazy to think that just one sewage treatment plant handles almost all of the city's waste. I wonder if plant that handles 20% could take more if the other one had malfunctions.

  3. There are lot of treatment facilities in my county, I think that is partially because Contra Costa County is huge. Additionally, there are several oil refineries and other factories in CCC that could possibly use these sewage facilities.
